Website Re-launch
SmartHomeShop has been involved in the custom electronics business for the past three years. Over the last several months, management at SmartHomeShop has been reviewing their business model and realized that the existing website did not reflect the new direction of the growing business.
The conceptual vision of the new website was discussed in early January and the launch of the re-designed and re-tooled website took place on April 24th, 2008. In the early stages, there was a great deal of research into existing websites; what we liked and what we did not like. This gave us the ability to effectively communicate the vision of the new site to Relentless Technology, the website design company.
We were really excited about being involved in the re-design of the SmartHomeShop website, because they were able to provide a concise vision of what they wanted the website to convey, said Craig Hauptman, President of Relentless. It has evolved to be one of our showcase website and now we are monitoring the success of the new design, said Hauptman.
The new design aims to give our visitors a clear and succinct understanding of who we are and how we operate, said Doug Scrymgeour of SmartHomeShop. We really wanted to focus on was selling a lifestyle solution. Much of the content is geared towards family and friends enjoying the comfort and safety of their own home. The objective from the beginning was to inspire and inform, said Scrymgeour.
SmartHomeShop realizes that the savvy consumers first step in researching a big purchase is the web. As such, the website needs to be insightful, inspirational and informative and the initial feedback is that the new design has successfully has answered the challenge on all three.
